Finding the purpose (Story)
Questioning the Dream
I used to work as a cinematographer and director in my home country, earning more money than I needed to live comfortably. My career was successful, and it seemed like I had everything one could want. However, despite this apparent success, I became increasingly unhappy. I realized I was living a dream promoted by society, not one that was truly my own. I constantly questioned the motives behind my relentless pursuit of wealth. Why did I keep striving to make more money? Was it merely to pay bills and meet financial obligations? What is the true purpose of money beyond its basic utility? These questions haunted me, leading to a deeper reflection on my life and values.
Marriage and Life's Next Steps
I found a spouse who shares my mindset, values, and outlook on life, and we decided to get married. After the marriage, we started to question our next steps and the direction we wanted our lives to take. Should we follow society's established pattern, start a family, buy a house, and take on more responsibilities? We wondered if the traditional path many people follow was right for us. But what is the point of all that if it doesn't bring us true happiness and fulfilment? We wanted to ensure that whatever path we chose, it would align with our personal desires and lead to a meaningful and joyful life together.
Rejecting Societal Norms
We both didn't like the idea of having children yet. We're still in our 20s and believe there's much more to life than taking on such burdens and responsibilities at this stage. We felt that having a child now would limit our opportunities to explore, grow, and experience life fully. My wife was a dedicated teacher in the government sector, and while she found her work meaningful, we felt we were living dreams that weren't truly ours. We often discussed how our current paths, although stable and respected, didn't align with our personal aspirations and the adventures we still wanted to pursue together.
Moving to Canada
We felt a deep and undeniable calling in our hearts to move to Canada, despite having established good jobs and strong reputations back home. The main reason for this life-changing decision was to avoid the haunting regret of not taking the chance when we had the opportunity. We realized that we weren't truly happy or satisfied with our current lives, not because we lacked gratitude for what we had, but because it wasn't aligned with our deepest dreams and aspirations. The life we were living, while comfortable and secure, did not fulfil our inner desires and potential. Therefore, we knew that we had to take this bold step to pursue a life that resonated with our true passions and dreams.
Starting Over
We left our jobs and moved to Canada without any concrete plans, driven only by the intention to settle down and build a new life there. With a sense of adventure and uncertainty, we explored numerous ideas to make money and brainstormed various possibilities. Eventually, we decided to start an online business, which seemed the most promising and flexible option. We dedicated significant time and effort to creating a professional website and a YouTube channel, where we could share our personal experiences, thoughts, and journey with a broader audience. This venture not only allowed us to sustain a living but also connected us with a community of like-minded individuals who were interested in our story and the insights we had to offer.
Facing Challenges
Shortly after starting the business, we encountered a significant technical issue that blocked us from receiving payments. This unexpected problem left us with just enough money to sustain the business for a few days. We felt utterly crushed by the situation and began to question the importance of money in our lives. We asked ourselves a truthful question: What would we do if there was no money?
Seeking True Purpose
This crisis led us to profoundly question our true purpose in life. Why are we doing what we're doing? What are the underlying motivations driving our actions? Why do we want to live in Canada specifically? What unique aspects of Canadian life are we seeking? What do we truly want to live for? What is the deeper purpose that gives our lives meaning and direction? Through these introspective questions, we began to critically examine and redefine what money means to us, moving beyond its surface value to understand its role in our overall happiness and fulfilment.
